April Helping Hands Collection: Laundry Love

Helping Hands will have a collection at our April 17 meeting for Laundry Love, a program of Messiah Lutheran Church.

There are several ways to help support Laundry Love and guests at Leo’s Laundromat.

1. Help Stock Messiah’s Little Free Pantry. This month our Little Free Pantry outreach ministry to alleviate food insecurity in Fairview Park (through Laundry Love) is looking for specific donations for our neighbors in need:

  •            Protein Foods: tuna (canned in water), chicken (canned in water), canned beef stews
  •            Grains: canned pasta, dry noodles/pasta, cold cereals
  •            Fruits: canned fruit
  •            Veggies: canned tomato products, spaghetti sauce
  •            Oils and Condiments: vegetable oil, salad dressing, syrup, jelly/jam, honey, mayo

We ask that you please check the expiration dates on the food items you wish to donate.

2. Donate Hygiene items/kits in ziplock bags. Poverty stinks, and our guests always appreciate personal hygiene items (sample size or full size) such as: toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, bar soap, shampoo/conditioner.

3. A special need is Tampons. “Period poverty” is a common phenomenon where women can’t afford monthly menstrual products. Most women ask for tampons.

4. Gift Cards to Giant Eagle, Walmart, and Target are always special and helpful.
